GX Developer Installation
This software is outdated. GX WORKS2 and GX WORKS3 are now the industry standard. Unless specifically required, the content on this page is not necessary.

Is This Page Necessary?
To be direct — this page is not really necessary. In recent years, GX WORKS2 has become the standard software, and GX Developer is rarely used anymore. Furthermore, when you install GX WORKS2, GX Developer is included as part of the installation package (though you do need to select it). In other words, there is almost no occasion to install GX Developer as a standalone application. The reason this page remains on the site is that I use it as an experimental page — for testing HTML changes and verifying JavaScript behavior.
That said, there is nothing particularly useful to gain from this page, so we recommend moving on to the next page. Feel free to take a look if you are curious.
Installation
GX Works2 and GX Developer are industrial-grade software products, so they are generally not available at consumer electronics stores. You can check pricing on Mitsubishi's MELFANSWEB site, but the list price is quite high. We recommend purchasing through the sites or distributors listed below.

GX Works2 includes GX Developer. Below, we introduce the standalone installation procedure for GX Developer.
Installing GX Developer is straightforward for anyone with a basic level of PC experience. First, insert the CD. Before running SETUP from the root of the CD, double-click and run the SETUP.exe located inside the "EnvMEL" folder on the CD drive.
This step must be completed before the main setup can be executed. Running it will display the following screen.
Click "Next". The installation will begin.
After a moment, the following screen will appear.
Click "Finish". The prerequisite setup for GX Developer is now complete. Note that GX Developer itself has not been installed yet at this point.
Now let's install GX Developer. Double-click and run the SETUP.exe located at the root of the CD.
The following screen will appear.
Click "Next".
Enter your company name. Any name is fine if you don't have a specific preference.
Enter the serial key. It should be included in the same box as the CD. A confirmation screen will appear — check the details and proceed.
Unless specifically needed, uncheck the checkboxes.
Specify the installation destination. The default location is fine if you have no particular preference.
Installation will begin.
Installation is complete.
